Monetization is coming to You42! What this means for your original content
Earlier this year, You42 updated its platform with better upload tools, new features like Channels, and a plan to roll out Networks — a way to unite creators, brands, and fans. But that’s not all we’re changing. Keep reading to learn how our creator-based platform puts you in charge of your content and your profits.
What is monetization?
Monetization is a way for Content Creators like you to get paid for YOUR work! First, you must request to become a Verified Content Creator on You42. To do this, simply sign up for an account with You42 and request verification through your account menu. After you upload at least 3 pieces of original content (music, video, podcast, etc), you’re ready to start monetizing!
How does it work?
Once you are a Verified Content Creator and have uploaded your original content, you can organize your content under your Channel or Channels as Premium or Free; only the content you tag as Premium can be monetized. Users then pay Credits to unlock access to your Premium Content.
How do I get paid from Monetization?
Monetization on You42 works on a Credits system. Users can purchase Credit Packs on the platform. They can then use these Credits to unlock Premium Content, such as music, videos, and podcasts from their favorite Content Creators. The Credits users spend to stream your Premium Content show up in your account as Earned Fees, which are distributed to your bank account on a set schedule.
Is there a limit to the price I can set for my content?
Nope! You choose the price for each piece of your Premium Content and it can be whatever you see fit. With all of the time and effort you put into creating it, only you know the true value of your work. It should be noted, however, that at least one piece of your content needs to be tagged as Free on You42 for marketing and discovery purposes. Outside of that, you are in control.
How do I get my money?
After you set up your Wallet under your profile, you can get paid from You42 through Earned Fees; Earned Fees are the Credits you receive from Users who pay to access any of your Premium Content. As long as you have earned at least $25, you can get paid for your content from these Earned Fees 15 days after the end of each month. Besides a small transaction fee from Stripe, YOU keep everything you earn and You42 takes nothing!
